Frequently Asked Questions
about The RITS

What is The RITS?

The RITS (Robotic IT Solution) is a proactive, desktop management device that combines total system analysis tools with triggered automatic responses, providing a breakthrough approach for intelligent and complete LAN management. The RITS is also a dynamic WAN appliance that allows service corporations to easily provide their clients with end-user level administration.

The RITS is a server appliance that integrates asset management, backup support, system monitoring and management into one package. Not only does The RITS integrate these applications into one hardware and software combination, it also automates them. For example, on a nightly basis, The RITS can scan each workstation for files that accidentally were not saved to the file server, and then move them there. It can also monitor key system parameters and take corrective action as needed.

What does The RITS seek to accomplish?

The RITS seeks to reduce the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of a network and its related PC's. With an infinite number of automated tasks The RITS is unparalleled in its power to reduce human intervention, and diminishing the down time of the network, so that there is minimal business interruption. With The RITS residing on a company's network, the professional intervention currently required to correct the frequently recurring problems associated with the application programs, the operating systems, and data lost due to mass storage failure and human errors, is significantly diminished. The RITS includes the functionality that network managers find essential today including complete automated management of: computer hardware and software, desktop and system settings, systems disks, files and folders, event logs, internet configuration, OS configuration, network, processes and system services.

Who is The RITS's target market?

The RITS customer may be the system administrator of a small to medium sized business. Alternatively, VARs. system integrators/managers and service providers who remotely manage companies’ networks are also target customers.

What are some other known vendors for a product of similar functionality?

The RITS brings together, in one package, these key functions:

  • Asset Management (such as Microsoft SMS, Novell ZenWorks, CA Desktop DNA)
  • Backup Support
  • System Monitoring (such as BMC Patrol)
  • System Management (such as Norton Utilities)

No other product packages these functions together. However, what is truly unique to The RITS (and not offered by ANY of the above vendors) is its triggering capabilities. While most products can perform a set of tasks, no other product can perform a task based on certain criteria being fulfilled or thresholds being met.

For example, if our appliance sees that a hard disk reaches a certain threshold, it might automatically delete unnecessary files, move questionable ones to another location on the network, defragment the problematic hard drive, and run a virus scan. It could even uninstall certain applications.

How many computers can The RITS support?

The RITS can support varying amounts of individual PCs on a network, depending on the specific The RITS Package. For small to midsize networks the basic The RITS Package can be enough, while larger networks will require the ultra The RITS Package.

How difficult is it to integrate the appliance into a network?

Integration is simple. The appliance can generally be up and running within a half hour.

What are the weight and dimensions of the The RITS appliance?

  • Weight – 15 lbs.
  • Dimensions – 2U – 17.32” (W) x 16.61” (D) x 3.46” (H)

Why doesn’t the The RITS Server run on Windows or Linux?

The security flaws in Windows are legendary. Linux is better, but still vulnerable. Because security and reliability are key factors in The RITS’s architecture is based on VxWorks by WindRiver, the number one rated, mission-critical, real-time operating system.

I know that I can use The RITS from a remote location, but what happens if my network connection is down?

A built-in modem enables secure, point-to-point operation of The RITS from a remote location.

What is the history behind the product and company? Who are the key people behind the product?
